G8 167 NBR Dundee 1879
C10 869 NBR DUNDONIAN 07/1906 Named after: A native of Dundee, busy port and industrial centre on the Edinburgh-Aberdeen main line. It is believed that a prominent Fife lawyer objected to this name on the grounds that it was a slang term, and the N.B.R. altered the name in April 1912 to Bonnie Dundee. This could be taken as referring to the city, but its traditional application was as a nickname for John Graham of Claverhouse, Viscount Dundee, Royalist soldier. He was also commemorated on Scott class engine No. 415 Claverhouse.
