Double-heading coke hoppers - Double heading coke hoppers with D5841. These Orgreave Sidings to Appleby-Frodingham coke trains were rostered for Tinsley (41A) Type 2s'. A heavy train, the coke was produced at Orgreave Coking Plant and burnt in the Scunthorpe blast furnaces. The passage of these trains was a frequent event, as they ran mornings and afternoons on weekdays. - with D5852 |

Hauled an Up fitted freight. During the previous three months I rarely saw a Class 4 fitted freight on this line. This day was the second occasion on mid-morning, late-summer Saturdays that I saw a steam hauled service (vans forming the load). The B1's attack of the bank resulted in prodigious amounts of dark-brown smoke. 61208 would have coupled-up to the train at nearby Rotherwood Sidings, Sheffield, the location where diesel, electric and steam traction exchanged trains. |

Hauled a Class 8 Up goods. Around midday the engine returned 'light', running onto the branch (Waleswood Curve) for Killamarsh Junction and a destination to the south. During the previous three months I only occasionally saw O4/8s' on the Worksop to Sheffield line, members of the O1 class appeared more regularly here. |
