Introduced 1954
Description (1957) Duke of Gloucester, 3 cylinders 18" x 28", 6' 2" driving wheels, and fitted with Caprotti valve gear. Built in 1954 as the prototype of a new standard design for top-link main line duties, it was unfortunately destined to remain the sole representative of its class, through the abandonment of the new construction of steam locomotives.
