28/02/1946 Market Harborough The extensive flooding of the Western Division main line in February caused a number of trains to be diverted to the Midland Division. Some ran to St. Pancras in place of Euston whilst others were transferred here to the Northampton line, regaining the Western Division at Blisworth. Many of these workings involved night trains, and it is believed that Scots were used in some instances. In addition, however, the disarrangement of the loco diagrams resulted in the appearance of Western Division 'Patriots' on Midland Division workings in and out of St. Pancras eg 5522 on 9/2 and 5551 on 10/2, both 5A. An interesting combination noted on 7/3 was 2786 (2D) piloting 5032 (8A) hauling an Ambulance train on the Peterborough Rugby line. 5665 (22A) and 3987 (20B) were both noted on 4/3, and 4424 (22A) on 9/3. This illustrates the diversity of Midland Division locomotives that are in evidence here. SLS/194604
