31/01/1947 General New 'West Country' Class completed were 21C153-155. Fourteen of the American type 0-6-0 side tanks have been purchased and are to be numbered 61-74: the U.S.A. 15/11/1947 Southampton Docks On 15/11/47 the bulk of the work at Southampton Docks was being performed by the ex U.S.A. 0-6-0T's, except for the passenger shunting which is still being carried out by the 'El' 0-6-0T's; only three 'B4's' were noted-all dead. 31/05/1962 U.S.A. Tank withdrawn The first of the fourteen ex-U.S. Army Transportation Corps 0-6-OT locos to be condemned was 30063 (71D) of Southampton Docks (71D) during May. Constructed by Vulcan as U.S.A. 1284 during 1942, bearing Maker's No. 4382, the loco was purchased by the S.R. in 1946. It was fitted with a modified cab, bunker and other detail alterations at Eastleigh Works and out-shopped as S.R. 63 during October, 1947, becoming B.R. 30063 in January, 1951. SLS/196210
