Description (1957) |
0-6-0PT's of various classes with minor differences, with 4' 1½" wheels, built between 1875 and 1905 at Swindon and Wolverhampton. They were all originally constructed as saddle tanks, and all of the survivors, except Nos. 1925 and 2007, had been rebuilt as pannier tanks. These two locomotives retained the round saddle until withdrawn in 1951 and 1949 respectively. No. 2048 was also a saddle tank until 1948 when it was rebuilt to pannier design. Nos. 2181-2190 initially belonged to the 2021-2160 series, but in 1939-40 they were given increased braking power and renumbered. Apart from this there was no alteration. The last of the class was withdrawn in 1958. |
